Film Event Accessibility Scorecard

History

The original Accessibility Scorecard launched in 2022, as a collaboration between FWD-Doc and Film Event Accessibility Working Group, with the support of Film Festival Alliance, and in association with 1IN4 Coalition. 

The survey has since collected over 600 responses from film festival attendees across the world. The 2023 Scorecard Impact report provides valuable data and insights on the type of accessibility and barriers faced at film festivals.  

How It Works

Film festival attendees fill out the Scorecard Feedback Survey describing their accessibility experiences at film events. Festival organizers then get notified and can review the feedback, to gain better understanding of the quality and effectiveness of their access practices. 

Organizers can review each response separately, or review analysis of overall responses on different access areas, while allowing them to identify barriers, access gaps, and successful accessibility implementation across multiple events and years. 

Data Collection & Sharing

The survey questions address areas of: website and digital accessibility, virtual events, wayfinding and navigation, accessibility information, program accessibility, film accessibility, accessibility accommodations and requests, inclusive programs and content, and overall experience. 

Event organizers who sign up will receive access to survey responses and statistics submitted for their events. Once a year, FWD-Doc will analyze all of the survey responses to assemble a report overviewing the current status and trends of accessibility at film events across all areas. The report is shared publicly noting the leading organizations who received top accessibility ratings in the survey’s responses. 

Personal information is not shared with organizers and is not included in any reports or external sources without the responder’s consent.
