Frequently Asked Questions
General
What counts as a “film event”?
A film event is any program related to the subject of film, or in which a film is screened. This includes: film festivals, film or screening series, one-time screenings, industry conferences, panels or conversation about film or filmmaking, hosting filmmakers or audiences, holding workshops, industry social events (i.e. parties, organization events, networking events)
Who can fill out this survey?
Anyone who experienced the live event! You are welcome to fill out the survey if you attended the event as an audience member, guest, speaker, filmmaker, partner, service provider, or staff member.
We ask that you fill out the survey based on your own experiences attending the event, not based on prior information, assumptions, or someone else's recounts.
What happens with the data?
All the data is stored anonymously in our database and is not shared with any external partners or resources beyond the FWD-Doc team. Individual and analyzed feedback on a film event is shared with the designated contact of the event organizers only, excluding any identifying characteristics.
FWD-Doc synthesizes the collected feedback to use in our annual scorecard report, which is shared publicly to reflect trends, characteristics, and highlights on accessibility at film events. Identifiable individual responder of demographic information is not included in the report.
For Organizers
What if my event isn’t listed?
No problem! You can search the event list, and if you can’t see your event there — you have an option to type it in and it will be added to the event list. Make sure you use the official event name and spelling, so it can then be identifiable to other users.
How and how often do I receive my event data?
As an event organizer, you will receive an email notification every time you receive feedback on your festival. You can also access all of your feedback to review overall responses, and draw analyzed graphs and reports.
What should I do with this data?
Our recommendations would be to:
Review feedback regularly to identify and alert your team on access barriers and successful implementation of access practices
Include the summary of all of your event’s feedback into your organization’s wrap report in an “accessibility section”
Compare responses and ratings on your accessibility on each event or year to track progress
Use the data and insights to funnel resources and plan budgets for a certain accessibility area
Include the data in grant applications related to accessibility and inclusion
Follow up with approved responders to ask for more information
