Film Event Accessibility Scorecard

For Film Event & Festival Organizers

Toolkit for Events & Organizers

FWD-Doc has prepared this toolkit for those events signed-up to receive data related to their event from Film Event Accessibility Scorecard responses. As events, it means you get real feedback that recognizes your excellence in accessibility and tangible ways to improve accessibility based on the experiences of real attendees.

Promoting the Scorecard as part of your event …

  • Shows to your attendees, sponsors and partners that your event cares about accessibility

  • Encourages people to pay attention to accessibility features and provide feedback for events

  • Helps to establish accessibility as an essential thing events should pay attention to, and not an afterthought

Table of Contents

Badges, Banners & Laurels

Best for websites, print materials and adding to existing designs

Show off your participation by adding a simple “badge” to your web banner to your event’s website and materials like flyers, programs, signage and more. You can also add the official laurel to your presentations, pre-rolls and posters as well. With just the small addition of this graphic, you can maintain your organization’s own branding and existing designs while still signifying your involvement with pride.

Note: All web banners have a TRANSPARENT background. Please choose accordingly for your design and proper contrast. Laurels offer more variety.

Official Laurel

Social Media & Written Content

Best for social media, online platforms, articles and blog posts, email communications, pre-roll slides and more!

This is your chance to show to your audiences why event accessibility matters to your event. How does it support or connect to your values or mission? Let them know why this is important, how you use the data (or plan to), showcase changes you’ve made, highlight positive responses. You can also design your own graphics inspired by these but with your event branding, or include the laurel in the previous section.

What & When to Promote:

Email & Blog Inclusions

One of the easiest ways so promote your involvement is to include the information in your email communications. Whether you’re sending a stand-alone e-blast for a specific event, a monthly update newsletter or a post-event auto-response email to all attendances with the link. See the drop-down menu for pre-drafted options. But get creative — we encourage you to use your own brand voice/tone!

You can also include these in any announcement-style blog posts announcing fellows, programs, panels, and other engagements, or articles on your website, so that as people can easily find it.

Social Media Captions

Use the captions (aka “copy”) pre-drafted in the drop-down menu. You can use it as-is, customize it, or even write your own. If you want to write your own, or get inspired, we’ve prepared the following prompts:

  • When/why did your event enroll?

  • Why is accessibility/its improvement important to your event?

  • How has participating impacted your event? What have you done to improve accessibility?

  • Why is the Scorecard unique? How does it better the industry?

  • What specific things have you improved since last time?

Social Media & Digital Graphics

Vertical Graphics: Instagram

These come in both detailed , which has a descriptive paragraph and lists event examples, and basic, which just shares that your event is participating in receiving data.

Horizontal Graphics (16:9)

  • on Facebook, Linked In, and Twitter/X to remind people about the Scorecard

  • in emails and newsletters to all attendees after the event concludes

  • in articles and blog posts announcing programming, panels, and featured initiatives for your event

  • in the pre-roll slides, if you have projections or screens at your event

Post these on your story, and add a Link sticker over where the text is marked in the graphic using the link below!

Be sure to tag FWD-Doc, the Film Event Accessibility Working Group and the Film Festival Alliance in your stories! Also, you can use the hashtags: #AccessibilityScorecard and #FilmEventAccessibilityScorecard.
